Be sure to watch this short video showcasing my  favourite solo projects.

About Me:

Hi, my name is Dan, I'm 21 and I have wanted to be a game developer since I was young. The idea of being able to create a product that can influence the lives of people the way games have influenced me makes it my dream choice of career.

I am incredibly passionate about the gaming industry and I am excited to one day be part of a team who share my passion.

I have an interest in nearly every part of the creation process from scripting to asset and music creation, and have some form of independent experience in every aspect of game development. Across my projects I've created a huge variety of content including soundtracks, voices, assets, animations, rigs and of course complex scripts.

I hope you enjoy looking through my work, for more details on the projects below be sure to follow the links to their corresponding development pages.

Throughout developing my other projects and in my spare time I learned how to use common industry sowftware to create assets and characters for my games.

Software: Zbrush, Autodesk Maya, Adobe Premiere Pro, Blender, Photoshop

Skills: Rigging, Animation, Sculpting, Modelling, UV Mapping, Texturing

The projects seen on the left are some of my favourites, the top is a showcase of my modelling when I made a Star wars - Star destroyer Bridge with a X-Wing / Tie-Fighter dogfight outside.

Bottom right is a character I rigged in an attempt to learn more about animation, constraints and skeletons

Bottom left is a character i made from scratch that i sculpted, retopologised, UV mapped and textured myself, they are part of a project that includes armor and a weapon for the character as well.

To see more check out my page on 3D modelling and animation that showcases a variety of projects with analysis.

Smaller Projects:

Marble Worlds is a ball rolling puzzle game for Android mobile where the player must progress through biome specific levels to complete the game.

Marble worlds was a way for me to go through the entire process of creating a game from concept to publishing and was uploaded to the google plays store for free.

Admittedly the game is basic in scope with a simple gameplay loop and progression but was still made using entirely original assets and music.

Game Features:

  • 30 Levels

  • Cosmetic shop (uses in game collectible currency)

  • Menus

  • Leveling system

  • Basic AI obstacles

Engine: Unity 3D

Contribution: Gameplay, assets, music

DALL·E 2024-01-08 15.17.42 - Three verti

Sunstone quest was an attempt at creating a small scale RPG with a friend in Unreal Engine. It was one of my first Unreal projects and also acted as a learning tool to get me used to basic engine functionality.

The game is quite ugly in comparison to my other projects and has very basic art and UI but contains some notable features.

Game Features:

  • Large open world

  • Enemy AI with complex behavior

  • Storyline with quests

  • Rewarding exploration

  • Boss fights

Engine: Unreal Engine

Contribution: All gameplay, Landscape, non character assets.

What I'm working on now:

I am currently employed as an estimator at a construction company just to get a feel for working life and earn some extra money but in my spare time I am working on an Arcade like vehicle game that shares some similarities with games like Rocket League (Psyonix - Epic Games). As of writing this I have a clear plan of what I am trying to make and am working on narrowing down the scope to something more manageable for solo development while also working on a prototype.

Parts of development completed:

  • Concept

  • Game Development Document

  • Chaos Vehicle core movement

  • Handbrake charge

  • Jump and Ariel movement

So far i have completed a prototype for the vehicle going to be used in the game. The idea is a team based, sports style game where players must navigate a ball across a pitch to score points on an archery style goal on the other teams side. The Vehicle the player possesses will be capable of driving, bumping and Ariel movement but turning and breaking in the vehicle will charge a meter which will allow the player to transform the vehicle into a flying car with thrust. This mode will be temporary and will be used to travel fast and intercept the ball mid air.

I also have plans to implement pillars on the roof of the pitch that are used to turn fast with a grappling hook mechanic. Allowing skillful players an even wider range of movement.

I think an idea like this has high potential to be fun and popular as the concept is easy to understand but the skill ceiling is limitless.

Thank you for taking the time to look at my portfolio. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated :)
